SOUNDBITE (Italian), Antonio TAJANI, EP President, (on the possible EU top posts for Italy) I hope that Italy will seek and get an economic portfolio, those are the ones where Italy can give more to Europe and can also better protect the national interest. A Commissioner must not take orders from Rome and can certainly help to give strength and support to European policies. As I did when I was Commissioner for Industry, so any economic portfolio (would be good for Italy).

The Conference of Presidents of the Political Groups in the European Parliament is in favour, in a large majority, of this strategy. Of course we want more transparency.
