Δύο στους τρεις νέους στην Ευρώπη θέλουν να συμβάλουν στην πράσινη μετάβαση μέσα από τη δουλειά τους. Ωστόσο, το 45% των νέων Ευρωπαίων δεν διαθέτουν τις κατάλληλες δεξιότητες για να το πράξουν. Οι νέοι άνθρωποι χρειάζεται να έχουν τις κατάλληλες δεξιότητες και γνώσεις για να συμβάλλουν στην προστασία του περιβάλλοντος και την αντιμετώπιση της κλιματικής αλλαγής. Η ΕΕ σχεδιάζει διάφορα προγράμματα για να τους βοηθήσει να πετύχουν αυτόν τον στόχο. Για παράδειγμα, το πρόγραμμα «Πράσινες πόλεις Erasmus» παρέχει στους νέους ευκαιρίες εθελοντικής εργασίας και αμειβόμενης πρακτικής άσκησης σε τοπικά έργα που είναι φιλικά προς το περιβάλλον.
