SOUNDBITE by Chiel Boonstra, Founder and CEO of Trecodome, (in ENGLISH): in this project we renovated the houses to a very low energy standard and what we did here is that we provided a full new envelope around an existing building.

SOUNDBITE by Chiel Boonstra (in ENGLISH): the way the test was carried out was really innovative because we did it in a pre-fabricated manner and by doing this the tenants could remain to live in their houses even though it was a significant renovation and we could renovate one building in one day.

SOUNDBITE by Chiel Boonstra (in ENGLISH): the main focus is to give old buildings with a poor climate and a high energy bill a complete new comfort and an extremely low energy bill; so we insulated the houses to standards which are well above what we are normally doing in the Netherlands; we used triple glazing, we used pre-fabricated elements with 36 cm of insulation; we used the same in the roof; we installed heat recovery ventilation for energy efficient and good comfortable ventilation and we have a solar thermal system to even save 50 % of the domestic hot water demand.
