Roadmap towards a new international climate agreement in Paris: MEPs debate

SOUNDBITE (Dutch), Ivo BELET (EPP, BE), We need a balanced reform of the ETS, that's clearly necessary, beginning with the market stability and reserve. We need on short term to make the ETS a stable system, an a one which is shock - proved, a system which  has the necessary resilience so that we can lead the basis for the back loading  of the allowances . All of that keeping the equilibrium .

SOUNDBITE (Dutch), Kathleen VAN BREMPT (S&amp;D, BE), Energy efficiency must be the top priority of the Juncker plan. Secondly, I trust and hope that we will recognise our responsibility global when its  its comes to pollutions. At the same time we can bee on the look out to individual solutions. many of our companies, steel companies chemicals, are really world leaders in this area and I believe that in eastern Europe, in European countries we must be solidaires  and every one  gets benefits of it..

SOUNDBITE (English), Ian DUNCAN (ECR, UK), The challenge going forward for this chamber is that we have before us many great opportunities, and i'm thinking particulary at the reform of the Emission Trading Scheme. We must make significant advances on this area if we want to offer global leadership in this particular question.

SOUNDBITE (French), Yannick JADOT (Greens/EFA, FR), Europe can present as from the end of the spring an objective of 25% of gas emission till 2020. We must absolutely that in the contributions presented by the EU we exclude all what is concerning the use of the lands , the use of the lands, because otherwise we will loss all credibility.  We also know that today, the main blocking point tin the international negotiations is the financing. We must be more serious about, it is not that Europe is making , that Europe is making enough. We must act for us, and for the humanity.
