The joint ECON and ENVI Committees hold a vote on a motion for resolution objecting to the Complementary Climate Delegated Act (CDA) under the Taxonomy Regulation, adopted by the Commission on 9 March 2022. Bas EICKHOUT (Greens/EFA, NL) explains the Parliament's position. The vote is adopted 76 in favour, 62 against and 4 abstentions. The resolution will next be voted in the July plenary where an absolute majority will be required.

This infoclip illustrates the delivery of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in Europe, to Gate (Gas Access to Europe) terminal in the port of Rotterdam, Netherlands on 12/05/2022. Gate terminal is a gateway for LNG from across the world. The import terminal on Maasvlakte in Rotterdam contributes to the natural gas supply in the Netherlands and Northwest Europe. The terminal receives LNG, stores it, regasifies it and then supplies it to the gas transport network for distribution to households and industry. Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is a clear, colourless liquid created when natural gas is cooled to -162°C. In liquid form, LNG occupies approximately 600 times less volume than standard natural gas, which enables it to be stored and transported very efficiently. LNG is an alternative to gas transport via pipelines, particularly for transportation over long distances. LNG is also used as fuel for vessels and lorries, as a replacement for diesel and heavy fuel oil.

Plenary debates and votes in Strasbourg on new guidelines for selecting energy projects for EU funding in order to better align them with the EU’s Green Deal objectives. MEPs also decide whether to apply the urgent procedure process to a recent proposal by the Commission setting an obligatory 80% gas storage level ahead of next winter to ensure security of supply.
