During the plenary session (11-13/11/2020) of the European Parliament in Brussels, MEPs discussed and adopted its position on the legislative proposal for the so-called “EU4Health Programme”, which aims to increase EU capacities to help member states deal with health crises such as COVID-19.

Every year, 3.5 million persons are diagnosed with cancer in the European Union. It is a serious health issue that will directly affect 40% of EU citizens with important impacts on the European health systems and economies. The von der Leyen Commission will present a European plan to fight cancer to support Member States to improve cancer control and care. On the occasion of World Cancer Day, the Commission is taking the first step by launching an EU wide public consultation on Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan.
