SOUNDBITE (Italian), Antonio TAJANI, <p>In the agenda today is the election of the Vice-President of the European Parliament to replace Ryszard Czarnecki. I would like to remind you that according to article 20 of the rules of procedure the new Vice-President takes the place from the outgoing Vice-President. I have received the candidacy of Zdzisław KRASNODĘBSKI (ECR, PL), nominated by the ECR group and from Andres TARAND (Greens/EFA, EE) nominated by a group of MEPs. The candidates has requested to accept their nominations. Giving the number of candidates is superior to the positions to be assigned, we should proceed according to article 17, paragraph 1 of the rules of procedure holding a secret ballot.</p>
