Le Parlement européen a entamé la révision de la stratégie pharmaceutique pour l’Europe au premier trimestre 2023. La nouvelle législation luttera notamment contre la fragmentation de la recherche et du développement en matière de santé dans l’Union européenne, le manque de transparence et l’écart entre les investissements publics et les résultats cliniques obtenus. Parmi les solutions envisagées: la création d’une infrastructure biomédicale européenne de grande envergure, mais aussi une série de stratégies ciblées qui coordonneront mieux la recherche en matière de santé dans l’Union et accorderont la priorité aux maladies contre lesquelles il n’existe pas de traitement satisfaisant.

As the European Commission prepares to launch a much awaited revised EU pharmaceutical strategy, two recent studies by the European Parliament's Panel for the Future of Science and Technology (STOA) advance possible options to tackle current weaknesses in drug development and ensure access to high-quality medicines, including the creation of large-scale European biomedical infrastructure, and a series of targeted strategies to improve EU health research coordination and reprioritise areas of unmet therapeutic need.
