SOUNDBITE (French), Martin SCHULZ, EP President, "On behalf of the EP, I want to express, together here with you, our condolences to the family and friends of the victims of the terrorist act perpetrated yesterday in Paris against the magazine 'Charlie Hebdo'. Here in this square, but also all over Europe and worldwide, we are deeply shocked by this unbearable crime, by this strike against our civilised society, and we all unanimously condemn, regardless our religion, our political views or our nationality, we all condemn this violence".

SOUNDBITE (French), Martin SCHULZ, EP President, "We will never give up on our values, the freedom of press and expression, tolerance and mutual respect; we will never accept that such violence will undermine our fundamental European values, which are the values of French society, the country that, historically has given us those rights."
