The Pournara Emergency Reception Centre for asylum seekers is located outside Kokkinotrimithia, on the edge of the capital Nicosia, in Cyprus. Outside and inside views of the camp with shots of the daily life of the asylum seekers in the camp. Shots of the established “safe zone”, installed by the EU Agency for Asylum (EUAA) at the Pournara Emergency Reception Centre. It is a special zone dedicated to fragile women, unaccompanied minors, women and children. According to Cypriot authorites, in the first half of 2022, 12,000 asylum seekers arrived in the southern part of the island.

This infoclip illustrates : the Temporary Accomodation centre in Mineo, Sicily, is a CARA facility of Catania Mineo and has a maximum capacity of 3,000 persons. The second example is the Centro di Primo Soccorso ed Accoglienza of Pozzallo, so called Hotspot where refugees stay not longer than 72 hours. During a fact finding mission on how best to spend EU funding for migration measures, including reception facilities, and how the new “hotspot” concept for screening and identification of migrants functions, MEPs had visited the 2 centres on the 23 and 24 July during parliamentary delegation visit to Sicily (Italy).
