On 7 October 2014, Jonathan Hill, Member designate of the EC in charge of Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union, awas heard by the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs of the European Parliament to test his general competences, European commitment and specific expertise related to her portfolio. Jonathan Hill had the opportunity to make an opening statement, he took part in a question and answer session and made a closing statement.Although the Parliament can only vote on the Commission as a whole, a negative assessment of one of the candidates has in the past already led to the candidacy being withdrawn and replaced. Jonathan Hill was Leader of the British House of Lords.

On 2 October 2014, Pierre Moscovici, Member designate of the EC in charge of Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs, was heard by Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs of the European Parliament. The Committees on Internal Market and Consumer Protection, and on International Trade were also associated to the hearing. The aim of this hearing is to test the general competences of the Commissioner designate, his European commitment and his specific expertise related to his portfolio. Pierre Moscovici had the opportunity to make an opening statement, he took part in a question and answer session and made a closing statement.Although the Parliament can only vote on the Commission as a whole, a negative assessment of one of the candidates has in the past already led to the candidacy being withdrawn and replaced. Pierre Moscovici was French Minister for the Economy, Finances and Foreign Trade.
