During the plenary session (13-16 January 2020) of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, MEPs set out their vision on the set-up and scope of the 2020-2022 “Conference on the Future of Europe”. In an unprecedented bottom-up approach, MEPs want citizens’ voices to be at the core of broad discussions on how to tackle internal and external challenges that were not foreseen at the time of the Lisbon Treaty. The Conference should start in 2020 and run for two years.
