The Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL) exchange views with Nicolas SCHMIT, European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, on fair minimum wages for workers in the EU, in the European Parliament in Brussels. In the 10 October 2019 resolution, Parliament urged the Commission to put forward a legal instrument to ensure that every worker in the EU has a fair minimum wage, to be set in accordance with national traditions, through collective agreements or legal provisions. In its 17 April 2020 resolution on coordinated EU action to address the pandemic and its impact, Parliament again pushed for a legal instrument to ensure fair minimum wages.
