I processi decisionali automatizzati da parte di sistemi che utilizzano l'apprendimento automatico per migliorare costantemente le prestazioni sono ancora considerati privi della "prospettiva umana" e della flessibilità necessaria per adattarsi alle particolarità dei vari casi specifici. Ma potrebbe darsi che, non avendo la "furbizia" di nascondere i propri pregiudizi, i sistemi automatizzati prendano in realtà decisioni più giuste di quelle degli esseri umani, soprattutto se si basano su dati correttamente trattati.

&lt;p>I deepfake (audio e video manipolati utilizzando l'IA) stanno conquistando la rete e alterando la realtà. Influenzano il modo in cui percepiamo eventi o affermazioni e generano tensioni creando artificialmente convinzioni errate. Questa tecnica è già stata utilizzata per commettere reati. Il fatto che il web operi su scala mondiale rappresenta una sfida per i sistemi giuridici a livello locale, nazionale e sovranazionale. Per questo motivo occorre agire anche a livello di Unione europea.&lt;/p>

There are many examples of AI being used in everyday life: Online shopping and advertising; Web search; Digital personal assistants; Machine translations; Smart homes, cities and infrastructure; Cars; Cybersecurity; Artificial intelligence against Covid-19; Fighting disinformation, etc. &nbsp;

In March Plenary session the Parliament approved the Artificial Intelligence Act that ensures safety and compliance with fundamental rights, while boosting innovation.

The regulation, agreed in negotiations with member states in December 2023, was endorsed by MEPs with 523 votes in favour, 46 against and 49 abstentions.

It aims to protect fundamental rights, democracy, the rule of law and environmental sustainability from high-risk AI, while boosting innovation and establishing Europe as a leader in the field. The regulation establishes obligations for AI based on its potential risks and level of impact.

Robotics and artificial intelligence

The special committee AIDA on artificial intelligence will study the impact and challenges of rolling out AI, and propose a roadmap with objectives for the EU in the field of AI - and the steps that need to be taken to achieve them.

Its mandate is to analyse the future impact of artificial intelligence in the digital age on the EU economy, in particular on skills, employment, fintech, education, health, transport, tourism, agriculture, environment, defence, industry, energy and e-government.

The Constitutive meeting will take place on 23 September 2020.
