During the plenary session (22-25/10/2018) of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, MEPs vote on a new law to forbid the sale of single-use plastic products such as cutlery, cotton bud sticks, plates, straws, beverage stirrers and balloon sticks within the EU from 2021. New EU rules to reduce marine litter are voted on by the Environment and Public Health Committee (ENVI) in the European Parliament in Brussels. During the meeting of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) in the EP in Brussels, MEPs voted and rejected the objection to a proposal by the European Commission's setting new limits for the use of the endocrine disruptor bisphenol A (BPA) in varnishes and coatings that come into contact with food. The objection by some MEPs was intended to push the Commission to work towards a total ban of this molecule in materials coming into contact with food. In 2016, European Parliament asked for a ban on BPA in all materials which come into contact with food.
