During the plenary session (11-13/11/2020) of the European Parliament in Brussels, MEPs vote on the EU and China agreement to mutually protect over 200 products with geographical indications. These include Cava, Champagne, Feta, Irish whiskey, Münchener Bier, Ouzo, Polska Wódka, Porto, Prosciutto di Parma and Queso Manchego. The Parliament consent is required for the agreement to enter into force.

During the EP plenary session in Strasbourg, MEPs debate a draft EU regulation to stop the financing of armed groups and human rights abuses through trade in minerals from conflict areas. The new law will oblige all but the smallest EU importers of tin, tungsten, tantalum, gold to monitor their sources and do "due diligence" checks on their suppliers.
