MEPs vote on the Emissions Trading System reform, the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and a new Social Climate fund to combat climate change. Following a plenary debate on 7 June 2022, and the rejection of the report on the revision of the EU Emissions Trading System on 8 June 2022 at the Plenary session in Strasbourg, MEPs vote again on 22nd June on three draft laws, part of the Fit For 55 in 2030 package. This is the EU’s plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels and have net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (climate neutrality) by 2050, in line with the European Climate Law.
