Hydrogen is expected to play a key role in a future climate-neutral economy, enabling emission-free transport, heating and industrial processes as well as inter-seasonal energy storage. Renewable hydrogen can sustainably contribute to achieving climate neutrality in the EU in the long term. This infoclip illustrates an Hydrogen Hybrid Power Plant in Prenzlau, Brandenburg, the exploitation of Hydrogen trucks in Belgium and hydrogen trains in Germany.

Members of the Regional Development Committee (REGI) approved the establishment of the Just Transition Fund (JTF) with 27 votes in favour, 7 against and 8 abstentions during a vote in the European Parliament in Brussels. MEPs request a significant increase in the budget allocated from the 2021-2027 financial framework (from EUR 11 270 459 000 in current prices to EUR 25 358 532 750 in 2018 prices, also referred to as the “principle amount”).
